Inside JettProof
The Journey of Creating Innovative Sensory Products
At JettProof, every product begins with a purpose - to support individuals with sensory needs and improve their quality of life. Our process is not just about developing textiles; it's about innovation, collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Bringing a new product to life is a meticulous journey. It requires creativity, problem-solving, and rigorous testing to ensure it meets the highest comfort, durability, and sensory support standards. Here's an inside look at how we transform ideas into life-changing products.
Step 1: Concept Development—Identifying a Need
Every JettProof product begins with a need. Our team continually brainstorms ideas for products that can support individuals with Autism, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, Anxiety, and other neurological conditions. We focus on solutions that enhance comfort, regulation, and well-being. During this phase, we discuss potential designs, evaluate benefits, and consider how a new product will integrate into the lives of our customers. Collaboration is key - our team shares insights, experiences, and expertise to refine the concept before moving forward.
Step 2: Selecting the Perfect Fabric
Fabric choice is at the heart of every JettProof product. We primarily source materials from CalmTex®, a premium sensory textile company prioritising durability, breathability, and comfort. However, each new product requires careful evaluation to determine the ideal textile for its function. The fabric must be soft and sensory-friendly, providing the correct compression, flexibility, and resilience. Every textile used in our products meets the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification, ensuring it is free from harmful substances and safe for individuals with sensitivities.
Step 3: Prototyping - Bringing the Vision to Life
Once the fabric is selected, our talented sewing and design team creates the prototypes, where innovation meets practicality. Stitch, seam, and design elements are carefully crafted, ensuring the product aligns with our vision. Problem-solving is integral at this stage - our team works through challenges such as fit, texture, and wearability to perfect the design before moving on to the next step.
Step 4: Initial Testing—The First Trial Runs
Before a product can move into full-scale testing, we conduct single-person trials to identify any significant fit, comfort, sensory responsiveness, and durability issues. We pay close attention to:
- Fit & Comfort: Ensuring the product feels good on the skin and moves naturally with the body.
- Sensory Response: Evaluating whether the fabric and design support sensory regulation.
- Wearability: Confirming the product is easy to put on, stays in place, and does not cause discomfort.
- The Vision: Considering if the product aligns with our original vision, filling the requirements from our concept development stage.
Step 5: Refining the Design
Not every prototype is perfect on the first attempt. If issues arise during initial testing, we return to the drawing board, making necessary adjustments to improve the design. This iterative process may involve modifying fabric composition, refining seams, or adjusting the garment's structure to enhance comfort and durability. At JettProof, we never rush the process - our commitment is to perfection, not speed.
Step 6: Rigorous Testing - Ensuring Long-Term Durability
Once the prototype meets our standards, it undergoes more extensive testing, including:
- The 100-Wash Test: To ensure the product maintains its quality, compression, and softness after repeated washing.
- Stretch & Durability Tests: Simulating wear and tear to confirm longevity and shape retention.
- Sensory Compatibility Assessments: Verifying that the product continues to provide sensory benefits over time.
- Real-World Trials: Selected testers provide feedback on comfort, effectiveness, and overall user experience.
Often, we conduct a range of additional tests designed for specific products. For example, we measured the water absorption of our sensory Sand Free Towels at 1L. Additionally, we tested our Calming Compression Singlets under different clothing to ensure they could remain a subtle sensory product so individuals could wear them all day without feeling self-conscious.
Step 7: Design & Marketing - Bringing the Product to Life
With the product perfected, it's time to make it visually appealing. Our design and marketing team collaborates on colours, patterns, and branding elements that reflect our customers' needs and preferences. Each product must be functional and aesthetically pleasing, ensuring individuals feel confident and comfortable using it.
Step 8: Print & Production Testing
We conduct additional testing for products featuring patterns or prints to ensure durability and vibrancy. We repeat many earlier tests during this step to ensure that designs remain intact and colours don't fade, even after repeated washing and use.
Step 9: Final Approval & Market Launch
After months (or even years) of development, testing, and refining, the product is finally ready to launch. But at JettProof, the journey doesn't end there. We continuously monitor customer feedback and look for opportunities to improve and innovate further. Sometimes, we revisit projects, finding new solutions that allow us to add to or even improve our current product range.
A Commitment to Quality & Innovation
Developing sensory-friendly textiles is more than a process - it's a passion. Every product we release has been through rigorous development and testing, ensuring it meets our strict standards. At JettProof, we believe in delivering only the best to our customers. A product never reaches the market if it doesn't meet our expectations.
Through collaboration, expertise, and an unwavering dedication to enhancing the lives of individuals with sensory needs, we continue to push the boundaries of innovation in sensory apparel. Because at JettProof, we're not just making clothing - we're making a difference in the lives and family lives of those with sensory needs.
